Kenya-NBA signs MOU for talents and infrastructure development

Kenya has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the National Basketball Association (NBA) to facilitate the development of basketball infrastructure in Kenya, with a goal of developing an elite level arena with the capacity to host top-level competitions.

The MOU focuses on school and community based grassroots talent development under the #TalantaHela Initiative, including training of teachers as certified basketball coaches and scouts. Additionally, the MOU will see NBA opening up an office in Nairobi for coordination of activities of the region.

The signing done by CS Hon. Ababu Namwamba, EGH and NBA Africa CEO Victor Williams in New York, was witnessed by H.E. President William Ruto, alongside the Vice Chairman and President of Toronto Raptors Masai Ujiri, Basketball Africa League President Amadou Fall and Former NBA All-Star Luol Deng.

The MOU opens up a pathway for Kenya's talented basketballers to fully develop their undoubted potential, build careers, and sustainable livelihoods as envisioned under the revolutionary #TalantaHela initiative.
